Khohar History

In Kharian's "Pubi" range near Khohar, ancient monuments have been discovered that indicate the presence of a population from hundreds of years ago. The discoveries include pottery, bricks, bones, fossils, and coins. The coins found at the site are attributed to Sultan Nasir-ud-Din, who was a Muslim Turkic ruler and the eighth Sultan of Delhi during the Mamluk (or Slave) dynasty in medieval India.

Sultan Nasir-ud-Din  Muhammad :

Sultan Nasir-ud-Din Muhammad, also known as Nasir ud din Mahmud or Nasir ud din Firuz Shah (1246–1266), was the youngest son of Shams ud din Iltutmish (1211–1236). He succeeded Ala ud din Masud as the Sultan of Delhi after the chiefs replaced Masud due to his perceived tyrannical behavior.

While Mahmud was known to be a religious ruler who dedicated much of his time to prayer and helping the poor and distressed, the primary affairs of the state were handled by his Deputy Sultan or Naib, Ghiyas ud din Balban. After Mahmud's death in 1266, Balban (1266–1287) rose to power as Mahmud had no children to succeed him.

Sultan Ghari, Mahmud's fortified tomb, was built by Iltutmish in 1231 and is located in the Vasant Kunj area, close to Mehrauli, in New Delhi. The tomb chamber has an octagonal design and represents one of the finest examples of Mamluk dynasty architecture, which also includes the iconic Qutub Minar.

It is significant to discover these ancient monuments and artifacts in Kharian, as they provide valuable insights into the historical presence of the olden Khohar population and their connections to the Mamluk dynasty in Delhi. Further exploration and study of the site could unveil more details about this fascinating period of history.
