This sponge cake can also be the base for various cream cake recipes you may want to try.

Ingredients:

- 3 cups all-purpose flour

- 4 eggs

- 2 teaspoons baking soda

- 2 teaspoons vanilla essence

- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

- 1 cup butter

- 1 cup milk

Instructions:

1. Cream together the butter and sugar, then blend in the beaten eggs.Mix until the mixture becomes airy and soft.

2. Sift together the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Gradually add this to the egg mixture. If needed, add a little milk to achieve a fluffy and soft batter. Stir in the vanilla essence.

3. Grease a baking tin with butter or cooking spray and sprinkle some flour on it to prevent sticking. Alternatively, you can line the tin with butter paper. Pour the cake mixture into the greased baking tin.

   - For pressure cooker method: Place the tin on a stand in the pressure cooker without adding water. Cook on high flame for 2 minutes, then remove the whistle and cook on low flame for 35-40 minutes.

   - For oven method: Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for 30-35 minutes.

4. To check if the cake is cooked, insert a knife or skewer into it. If the knife or skewer comes out without any batter sticking to it, it means the cake is ready. Allow the cake to cool on a wire rack.

5. Once cooled, remove the cake from the tin. If desired, slice off the top of the cake to create an even surface for decorating.

6. Optional: Prepare whipping cream by mixing heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until it reaches a sturdy peak consistency.

7. Decorate the cake with whipping cream, cherries, or tutti-frutti, according to your preference.

Tips:

- Whisk the cake mix well for a fluffy result. An electric blender works best for mixing all the ingredients.

- If you don't have butter, you can use clarified butter (ghee) or homemade white butter for extra flavor.

Enjoy your homemade cake, and let your creativity shine while decorating it!
